Exclusive video obtained by WDSU shows Corey Boyd being arrested inside the Bienville Basin apartment complex Tuesday night.
In the video, dogs are seen snapping at the 19-year-old escaped inmate as deputies command him to get on the ground.
Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams watched the video and said, it’s clear Boyd had help.
“The idea that they’re bringing this hell, this fresh hell to your home, to your doorstep, means they don’t care. Someone had to provide that access and that help, just that assistance alone is a crime,” said Williams.
This video was obtained just hours before Cortnie Harris, 32, and Corvanntay Baptiste, 38, were arrested on felony accessory charges.
According to state police, Harris contacted two of the escapees by phone and took them to multiple locations across New Orleans.
LSP said that Baptiste used a phone and social media to help Corey Boyd get food.
“All they’re doing is putting you in a line of sight of law enforcement,” said Williams.
Accessory after the fact carries a penalty of up to five years in jail, even if the person you’re helping isn’t caught.
Darlene Cusanza with Crime Stoppers said that tips about the escapees and those helping them are coming and being vetted.
“They’re looking to see what the connections are between the information. They’re looking to see how many times a piece of information is received, whether that’s an address or an individual’s name,” said Cusanza.
Both Cusanza and Williams believe more arrests could be on the way, urging anyone who’s thinking about helping to stop.
“Don’t let these men ruin your life,” said Williams.
