Federal authorities have filed a motion to revoke the bond of Jason Giles, a suspended attorney charged in a wide-ranging conspiracy involving staged wrecks in New Orleans.
Court records show that the U.S. Attorney wants Giles’ bond revoked.
Note: Video above is regarding the latest plea from Sean Alfortish, who is also indicted in the staged wrecks scheme
Giles was a principal at the King Firm and is accused of working with people to stage wrecks in New Orleans and then filing false insurance claims to fraudulently collect large payouts.
The reason the feds want Giles jailed until his trial in September has not yet been made public and has been sealed.
The King Firm is also accused in the scheme. Giles pleaded not guilty. His attorney declined to comment when reached by phone.
WDSU broke the story on staged wrecks in 2018, and since the first story aired, more than 40 people have pleaded guilty to numerous charges.
Also charged with Giles are lawyers Vanessa Motta and Sean Alfortish.
Motta also had her law license suspended and Alfortish was disbarred years ago.
Alfortish is also accused in the murder of a federal witness in this case.
Both have pleaded not guilty, and all are set to stand trial in September.
