The 2025 Hurricane Season is expected to be above average, and now is the time to prepare.
It is important that all Louisiana residents prepare an evacuation plan and become familiar with the state’s contraflow plan.
Contraflow will be a last resort and, if used, traffic will flow east on Interstate 10 to the Slidell area, where Interstate 12, Interstate 59 and I-10 meet. From there, people can decide which way they want to go.
Contraflow has been used twice in Louisiana: in 2005, for Hurricane Katrina, and in 2008, for Hurricane Gustav.
