The Kenner Police Department has arrested a man accused in a shooting that happened on May 23.
According to police, Jarred Ambrose was arrested in connection with a shooting in the 300 block of West Esplanade Avenue.
Around 9:35 p.m. officers responded to the shooting as well as a separate report of someone with a gunshot wound at a nearby hospital.
When officers arrived at the hospital, they spoke with an 89-year-old man who said he had been shot in the arm twice.
The man identified the person who shot him as Ambrose.
The man said Ambrose was recklessly riding a motorcycle on the street when the two got into a fight.
The man was in his car when Ambrose pulled a gun and shot him, according to police.
On May 26 Ambrose’s mother and sister reported him in a separate instance where they told police he was firing gunshots in their home in the 3600 block of West Loyola.
Ambrose claimed he was shooting at an intruder, according to police. His mother and sister ran to the back of the house and called police.
Kenner police said officers got the family out of the home and convinced Ambrose to surrender.
A 9mm semiautomatic handgun was recovered from the scene. Officers also located two scooters, clothing and back packs which all matched the description of the shooter from the May 23rd shooting, according to police.
Kenner police said Ambrose admitted to the shooting and is now facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and drug charges.
