Two people were killed in a car crash in Jefferson Parish Monday morning.
Louisiana State Police say the crash happened around 11 a.m. on Louisiana 3152 near King Street in Metairie.
According to police, Oscar Carter IV, 80, of New Orleans was traveling north on LA 3152 in the center lane, at the same time another car was traveling north on LA 3152 in the left lane.
For reasons still under investigation, Carter’s car veered into the left lane and struck the right side of the Nissan.
After the initial impact, Carter entered the median and struck a tree, while the Nissan crossed the median into the southbound lane of LA 3152 and struck another car traveling south.
Carter suffered a serious injury and died on the scene. Carter’s passenger, Martha Bradford, 77, of New Orleans also suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
All of the occupants in the Nissan suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
This is an ongoing investigation.
