Community members, families, and advocacy organizations are gathering in St. Rose, Louisiana, in response to a series of Immigration and Customs Enforcement check-ins that they say have led to unexpected detentions and deportations.
Organizers of the “Father’s Day Protest” say many families under supervision programs were recently instructed to report to the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP) office for case reevaluations. Some of those individuals, they claim, were then taken into custody without prior warning.
Advocates say the timing and approach of these check-ins are causing fear and confusion among immigrant communities. Several groups — including Southeast Dignity Not Detention and Indivisible NOLA — are calling for greater transparency and accountability in the process.
Protesters say they are also highlighting previous concerns related to the New Orleans ICE Field Office, including limited access to legal counsel and inconsistencies in detention procedures. They say their goal is to ensure due process for those affected and raise awareness of how immigration enforcement is carried out at the local level.
The protest is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rally set for noon, outside the ISAP Office at 125 James Drive West in St. Rose, Louisiana.
