On Saturday (June 14), Katy Perry surprised attendees at a Melbourne nightclub by crashing the ‘Club Katy’ night while on her Australian tour. The event was part of the club’s LGBTQIA+ ‘Poof Doof’ night, which also included a celebration of the music of the pop icon. “You guys raised me,” Perry told the crowd at Chasers Nightclub in fan-shot footage of the festivities. “I thank you and I love you, you are my chosen family. Because you are my chosen family, a mother must provide for her children. So as a provider, I would like to open the bar for one hour. The drinks are on me, baby!” Perry’s appearance followed the final Melbourne date of her Lifetimes Tour at Rod Laver Arena. Perry’s Australian tour started in early June and has included four sold-out dates in Melbourne and three in Sydney, and continues on Tuesday (June 17) with the first of two sold-out dates in Brisbane.
