Mariah Carey reached a new career milestone with her 50th hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as her latest single, “Type Dangerous,” debuts at No. 95. The track, which she co-wrote and co-produced, serves as a preview for her upcoming 16th studio album, marking her first release since 2018’s Caution. Carey performed “Type Dangerous” at the 2025 BET Awards, where she also received the Ultimate Icon Award, which further amplified the track’s popularity. “Type Dangerous” is Carey’s first nonseasonal song to crack the Hot 100 chart since “I Don’t,” featuring YG, spent a week on the list in February of 2017, and the new single marks her first non-holiday entry without any other billed artists since “Infinity,” back in May of 2015. Additionally, “Type Dangerous” debuted at No. 47 on the all-format Radio Songs chart, while opening at No. 7 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay tally, the highest entrance for a song in nearly 30 years, since Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” premiered at No. 6 in November 1995.
