LSU fans flooded Rocco’s after the Tigers took the title Sunday.
At a watch party more than 900 miles away at a Baton Rouge retirement community, they’re also familiar with Rocco’s too.
St. James Place imitated the Rocco’s Jell-O Shot Challenge, now a College World Series tradition, for LSU’s first game on Monday. The community has four buildings, and the one with the fewest residents won.

The community’s director of active lifestyles, Tonya Dixon, had the idea. Plus, she promised pizza if LSU made it to the championship series.
But when LSU advanced on Wednesday, she said, “Was thinking to myself, how can I have a Rocco’s-inspired pizza party without Rocco’s pizza?”
She called Rocco’s first thing Thursday. The owner, Kevin Culjast, answered the phone.
“I said, ma’am, I don’t even deliver down the block,” he recalled saying. “Give me an hour here because it’s something I really want to do.”
That’s where the well-known Omaha food company, Omaha Steaks, came in.
“We were actually able to turn that around, I think, in just about 12 to 18 hours,” said Omaha Steaks President and CEO Nate Rempe.

Omaha Steaks delivered the pizza and added hot dogs, burgers, and steak to the menu.
“The College World Series is like no other place on Earth,” Rempe said. “And so we wanted to give that to Baton Rouge.”
And although LSU fans are calling for Rocco’s to open a bar down south, the owner says he’s staying focused on Omaha.
“I get asked all the time, you know, but I’m getting a little old for that,” Culjast said. “I got my hands full with this one. And, you know, we’ll do what we can do from here, and we’ll just do it again next year.”
