One person has been arrested for a deadly crash in Jefferson Parish Friday afternoon.
Louisiana State Police said on Friday, June 27 around 1 p.m. Teodoro Leiva Gomez, 37, of Jefferson Parish and a passenger were driving west on Jefferson Highway near Labarre Road.
According to state police, Gomez ran off the left side of the road, entered the median and crashed into an electrical pole.
The front passenger of the car suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police are withholding the identity of the passenger until next of kin have been notified.
Gomez suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, Gomez showed signs of impairment and was arrested.
He is being charged with vehicular homicide, DWI and other traffic related charges.
This is an ongoing investigation.
