A Slidell man died over the weekend at a popular gym.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, Schucri Saul Mustafa Ortega, 31, died at the Cross Gates Athletic Club on Saturday.
Sources tell WDSU he was in the hot tub when he suffered from an apparent seizure.
The coroner’s office has not released an official cause of death. However, the coroner did confirm that foul play was not suspected in his death.
WDSU has reached out to Crossgates Family Fitness for a statement regarding Oretga’s death and received the following statement:
“There are moments that leave a community speechless, and this is one of them. We are mourning with the Mustafa family, who have been a big part of our community for over 20 years. Their loss is felt by us all. We are sending our love and prayers to the entire family.”
