During her San Francisco stop on The Lifetimes Tour on Friday night (July 18), Katy Perry experienced a terrifying moment when a flying butterfly prop malfunctioned mid-air, nearly causing her to fall into the crowd below. In fan-captured video of the incident, Perry is seen struggling to maintain her balance as the prop jerks violently downward, visibly startling her mid-performance. Despite the scare, the 40-year-old pop superstar managed to regain her composure and finish the show. Perry later poked fun of herself by sharing a screen shot of her terrified reaction to the incident on social media. This prop malfunction follows a frightening moment during Beyoncé’s recent Cowboy Carter Tour stop at Houston’s NRG Stadium, where her flying car dangerously tilted above the audience during her performance of “16 Carriages.” Perry is currently touring in support of her latest album, 143, and is next scheduled to perform in Seattle on Monday (July 21), followed by additional North American dates throughout August.
