The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating what they call an apparent murder-suicide in Harvey.
Deputies say they were called to the 500 block of 3rd Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
When they got on scene, deputies say they found a man and woman shot in the street. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
The Jefferson Parish coroner identified the victims as Bryisha Pennington, 39, of Harvey, and Laymon Adams, 28, of Terrytown.
Deputies say Adams was pronounced dead at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A gun was recovered near his body, according to JPSO.
