A person of interest in connection with a missing woman in New Orleans is now in custody in Lawrence County, Mississippi.
McArthur Mackey, 42, was named a person of interest by New Orleans police after Christine Wiltz, 34, was reported missing on March 27.
According to NOPD, Mackey has a documented violent history, and investigators have said he was also reported missing around the same time Wiltz disappeared.
NOPD said Wiltz may be at high risk for exploitation or serious physical harm.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mackey has been in its custody since Friday, April 3, on a hold for New Orleans.
NOPD said Mackey was the last person to see Wiltz when she picked him up on Friday, March 27, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Wiltz is still missing.
No other information has been provided at this time.
WDSU has reached out to the NOPD for an update regarding Mackey’s arrest and for any additional information on Wiltz’s whereabouts.
NOPD provided the following response:
“It is correct he was arrested in Mississippi on a probation hold from a previous charge.
“NOPD will continue our investigation to determine what role he may have played into to the disappearance of Christine Wiltz. The investigation is ongoing.”
