Twelve people were displaced after an overnight fire destroyed two apartment buildings near the 1900 block of Hickory Avenue in Harahan.
Harahan fire Chief Todd St. Cyr said eight apartments caught fire. Both buildings were heavily involved in flames when firefighters arrived, and strong winds were a major factor in the fire’s spread.
The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
Arson investigators responded to the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
