A dry start to the workweek is ahead for southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
Afternoon temperatures will reach 75 to 81 degrees, making it a comfortable day for outdoor plans.
Cool tonight, mild Tuesday
Tonight’s lows will fall to 53 to 57 degrees on the Northshore and 59 to 62 on the Southshore. A light jacket may come in handy early Tuesday.
Tuesday stays dry, with afternoon highs between 76 and 82 degrees.
Dry stretch continues
High pressure will keep rain away through at least Thursday. Expect cool mornings and warmer afternoons through much of the week.
The lack of rain is keeping grass and other plants dry. Fire danger remains elevated through midweek, so follow local burn bans and use caution around outdoor flames.
Watching Halloween weekend
A few showers could return Saturday into Sunday. Rain chances are currently around 30% to 40%, but the timing still needs to be worked out.
This does not look like a washout right now. Rain amounts appear light, so any showers are unlikely to provide much relief from the ongoing drought.
If you’re planning to trick-or-treat or attend an outdoor Halloween event, keep checking the forecast as the weekend gets closer.
Rough conditions for boaters
Gusty east winds will continue to make coastal waters rough. Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for parts of the coastal waters through Tuesday morning, with additional extensions possible.
Tropics remain quiet
No tropical development is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf over the next seven days.
