A group of young dancers from New Orleans schools celebrated 15 years of a Halloween tradition with a thrilling performance at City Hall.
The group includes kids from the Willow School, Homer Plessy, Spotlight Dance, and more, and is led by choreographer and community arts leader Kynt Bryan.
Bryan has taught kids Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance and put on a flash mob at City Hall for years.
“It’s the most magical, unimaginable dream I have ever dreamt in my life,” said Bryan. “It takes a lot to put together every year. Lots of things happen that go into the planning.”
Bryan said after this year, he will be stepping away from the role of Jackson to allow for new, fresh talent to take his place.
“I think for me, I’m 51 years old. I wanna do different things, and still have fun,” said Bryan. “We are going to have a new Michael Jackson and I’m going to spread my wings and explore some creative projects that I’d like to do.”
The performance helped get people into the Halloween spirit ahead of the holiday on Saturday.
