New Orleans Pelicans and Saints owner Gayle Benson is acquiring the iconic hotel, the Windsor Court.
The acquisition marks the first time in its 42-year history that the landmark hotel has been under 100% ownership and includes a commitment to a major upgrade designed to enhance its standing among the nation’s elite hotels.
“The Windsor Court is an iconic piece of New Orleans history, and it is a tremendous privilege to help shape its future”, said Benson. “While it remains one of the elite hotels in the country, my vision is to build on that excellence and take it to even greater heights. Much as I do with the Saints and Pelicans, I see myself as a steward of something that means a great deal to this community. That means honoring its traditions, investing in its future, and ensuring that New Orleans can continue to take pride in it for generations.”
The investment reflects Benson’s enduring commitment to New Orleans and her confidence in the city’s future as a premier destination for leisure travel, business, and major events.
The Berger Company will retain a minority interest in the property and be involved in the hotel operations.
The Windsor Court opened in 1984 ahead of the World’s Fair.
