An Independence-area couple was arrested in a drug bust that stemmed from a multi-agency car theft investigation.
Tangipahoa Parish deputies arrested Javorius Jones, 23, and his girlfriend, Allisha Baker, 24.
Deputies say on Oct. 23, they served a search warrant at an address on Velma Road in Amite, in collaboration with Baton Rouge Police, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office,
and Louisiana State Police.
The operation focused on the recovery of stolen cars, guns, and drugs and was conducted throughout the residence.
They found dozens of vapes and THC cartridges, multiple bags of suspected MDMA, cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and distribution-related materials, as well as multiple firearms.
Jones and Baker were both home at the time of the operation and were both taken into custody in connection with the initial stolen car investigation and the subsequent weapons and drugs car.
Both investigations are ongoing.
