The Pontchartrain Conservancy will be hosting its 13th annual Lights on the Lake holiday celebration.
The celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the New Canal Lighthouse, located at 8001 Lakeshore Drive.
The event will provide the best view of the annual West End Boat Parade along with hands-on activities and live entertainment.
The boat parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature dozens of local boats decorated with wreaths, lights, and holiday decorations.
The parade will assemble at the New Canal Lighthouse and proceed along Lakeshore Drive to Canal Boulevard and back, up and down the New Basin Canal, along Breakwater Drive and through the harbor.
The Pontchartrain Conservancy says, in addition to the boat parade, families can also enjoy hands-on STEM activities and sustainable crafts from the kids’ holiday shooting inside the gift shop, live entertainment from local choirs and dance troops.
Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased here. Children five and under get in for free.
All proceeds support Pontchartrain Conservancy’s mission to drive environmental sustainability and stewardship through scientific research, education, and advocacy, as well as offering education and outreach opportunities through the New Canal Lighthouse.
