Customers east of St. Bernard Parish will be experiencing lower-than-normal water pressure as Sewerage and Water Board crews perform an emergency water repair.
Sewerage and Water Board crews and contractor Boh Bros began an emergency water disruption on Thursday to facilitate the emergency water main repair at Duels and Pauger streets.
SWBNO says customers are not expected to lose water service; however, customers could experience lower-than-normal pressure.
These conditions could last through Tuesday, Nov. 10, when a line stop is scheduled to be deployed.
These impacted areas include Gentilly, Marigny, Bywater and the Lower Ninth Ward. New Orleans East customers could also experience a slight pressure reduction. Significant impacts are not anticipated due to the system redundancy in the area.
SWBNO says they are working to minimize impact and will close valves starting around 10 p.m. on Thursday to identify the extent of the repairs.
When water is restored, run your faucets for five minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use.
Gauges will be placed and monitored by a SWBNO crew during the water valve closure. The procedure will be aborted, and the closure will be opened immediately if there are any unacceptable pressure losses.
If you are outside of the expected impact area and experience low or no water pressure, to report a water or sewer emergency anytime, call 504-52-WATER (504-529-2837), choose your language option and press 1 for emergency.
