Jefferson Parish firefighters spent Saturday night battling a two-alarm fire at a Metairie home.
Crews were dispatched around 7:32 p.m. to a residence located in the 4700 block of Garden Street.
The Jefferson Parish Firefighters Association says crews began a fire attack operation using water stored in the first-arriving engine.
When they attempted to establish a water supply from the nearest hydrant, the hydrant was not repaired by the water department, according to the firefighters’ association.
They were able to establish a continuous water supply by extending hose lines to multiple hydrants.
Due to the extent of the fire, a second alarm was struck to assist with extinguishing the fire.
There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
