Six people are confirmed dead and two others remain missing after a boat capsized in South Lake Tahoe near D.L. Bliss State Park.
Just before 5 p.m. on June 21, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a capsized vessel with approximately 10 people in the water. Callers also reported wave heights reaching up to 8 feet during the incident.
EDSO and local emergency response teams responded quickly to the scene. Two individuals were rescued and taken to a local hospital. Six adults were recovered from the water and pronounced dead.
Search teams continue to look for the remaining two individuals, who are still unaccounted for. EDSO Search and Rescue, along with the EDSO dive team, are expected to return to the area to resume operations in the morning.
Officials say the identities of the deceased will be released once next-of-kin notifications are completed.
