A boil water advisory is now in effect for Hammond-area residents.
Tangipahoa Parish officials say contractors were pulling up trees to clear a lot and hit the water main in the area.
Residents on West Pleasant Ridge Road from Old Covington Hwy south to I-12 Service Road and Pecan Ridge Subdivision are all affected. Remember, you must bring your water to a boil for at least one full minute before cooking, cleaning or drinking.
This boil advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by Tangipahoa Parish Water District.
