The Jewel of Jefferson Parish is ready to glow for Halloween. Saturday, October 24th, is the 7th annual Trunk-or-Treat presented by the Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club of Metairie.
The park will turn into a spooktacular space for little ghouls and goblins to nab as much candy as their buckets can carry.
“We’re very excited,” said director Tripp Rabalais. “We have about 30 or 40 trunks already and it’s a great, fun family event. It’s generational in the park. You have grandparents, parents, nannies, everybody bringing their kids out.”
It’s $15 for children up to age 12, and admission is free for adults. This family-friendly event provides a safe and festive environment for children to enjoy Halloween activities while bringing the community together.
“For those parents who have a child that’s on the spectrum, typically they will have a purple Jack-o’-lantern,” said Councilwoman Arita Bohannan. “So, I think some of the trunks this year will be very sensitive to the purple Jack-o’-lanterns. So, make sure if your child has those kinds of needs, you have those, so that we can identify them easily without having to point them out.”
Organizers said costumes are encouraged with a photographer on site taking Halloween pictures for families to take home.
Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations that would like to sign up to participate with candy-distribution trunks can email lpoffice@jeffparish.gov. For more information about Trunk-or-Treat, call Lafreniere Park at (504) 838-4389.
