Autumn is settling into southeast Louisiana, bringing pleasant mornings, comfortable afternoons, and an extended dry streak that is expected to continue through the upcoming week.
It has been 18 consecutive days since measurable rainfall was recorded at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. High pressure across the eastern United States and a steady flow of dry air are keeping rain chances near zero for the foreseeable future. While the dry stretch makes for clear skies, low humidity and dry ground mean extra caution is advised with outdoor burning, especially across the Northshore.
Daily temperatures remain steady and mild. Highs will continue to top out in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, while overnight lows drop into the mid-to-upper 50s inland and the low 60s closer to the lake and Southshore.
The weather outlook is ideal for weekend events. Anyone heading out to Saturday evening’s Krewe of Boo! parade in downtown New Orleans can expect temperatures around 79 degrees at the 5:00 p.m. start, gradually cooling into the 70s and upper 60s as the parade rolls.
Looking ahead, the quiet, dry pattern holds right through next week with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, daytime highs around 80, and crisp overnight cooling. Tropical activity across the Atlantic also remains quiet, leaving the region with a stable, autumn forecast.
