Celebrating a special milestone for New Orleans history, the 2026 Krewe of Boo parade honored the 50th anniversary of Anne Rice’s popular novel, “Interview with the Vampire,” with a special float and lively festivities.
The parade featured her son, Christopher Rice, and Eric Shaw Quinn, close friend and bestselling novelist, as co-grand marshals this year.
“Interview with the Vampire is a New Orleans novel,” Rice said. “It is a novel about the history of New Orleans. It is a novel about outsiders who find a home in New Orleans.”
The anniversary float featured Rice’s publishers, fellow writers and friends.
“Anne told us all, writers and whatever profession that we were in, that our true course is to follow our own hearts,” Quinn said. “And as long as you do that, you’ll find your way.”
Formation of floats began at 5 p.m., with the parade officially kicking off at 6:30 p.m. down Elysian Fields Avenue.
Next Saturday, Oct. 31, the Garden District Bookshop and Rice and Shaw will host a special 50th anniversary event at Loyola University Roussel Performance Hall at 3 p.m.
