A Bogalusa man has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot people at the Washington Parish Free Fair.
Police arrested Brian Paquin, 45, of Bogalusa, in connection with the threats.
Police say on Saturday, Oct. 24, around 2:54 p.m., they responded to the fair due to reports of threats involving a shooting.
The complainant reported that Paquin had threatened to bring a firearm to the fair and shoot an individual involved in a personal dispute.
He also said Paquin told him that he was on his way to pick up another person, and they were on their way to the fair.
Officers located Paquin and saw ammunition in his car. During a consensual search, officers found a modified .22-caliber rifle, ammunition, and suspected marijuana.
BPD continued the investigation, contacted potentially affected individuals, and coordinated with agencies at the fairgrounds.
A second person connected to the reported threat was also notified that he was prohibited from entering the fairgrounds for the remainder of the year.
Paquin is being charged with menacing, suspended driver’s license, and simple possession of marijuana.
No other information has been provided at this time.
