The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with an investigation involving internet crimes against children.
Charles Stewart II, 52, was booked on 39 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began last month when deputies learned that upload activity was happening in Tangipahoa Parish and the case was referred to the TPSO Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Once the activity was traced back to Stewart, a warrant was obtained for his arrest and he was taken into custody Tuesday morning, according to TPSO.
The sheriff’s office said several electronic devices were seized and will be analyzed for additional evidence.
More charges are possible in the case, according to the sheriff.
