A man who was arrested in connection with several deadly stabbings in Houma has been indicted.
On October 27, 2026, the Terrebonne Parish Grand Jury indicted Kaegan Solet on five charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, following deliberations on evidence regarding his arrest.
He remains incarcerated with no bond pending his trial. The case has been assigned to Division “A” of the 32nd Judicial District Court in Terrebonne Parish, with Judge Timothy Ellender Jr. presiding.
On the same date, the court is expected to address several preliminary motions, including motions to preserve certain crime scene evidence and medical evaluations of the defendant.
Original reports:
Deputies say Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, of Houma, was taken into custody on Sunday after four adults were found stabbed to death in a home on Ashland Drive.
“This is our first quadruple homicide that we have had in our agency’s history,” Lt. Blake Tabor said, describing the crime scenes as “very disturbing” and “certainly very violent.”
Terrebonne Parish deputies said that on Saturday, they responded to the 200 block of Ashland Drive, where they found a minor suffering from apparent stab wounds.
The minor was transported by Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med to an out-of-area hospital and remains in critical condition.
“The child is still listed in critical condition, but stable,” Tabor said. “We do believe that he will pull through, but again, this is a day-to-day thing.”
As investigators traced the child’s movements, they discovered two victims inside a nearby home. A search of a second residential structure on the same property led deputies to two additional victims. All four adults were pronounced dead.
The victims included at least one elderly woman. Officials have not released their identities or exact ages as investigators continue contacting relatives and interviewing witnesses.
Investigators believe Solet, the child and the four adults were connected, though officials have not disclosed the nature of those relationships or identified a possible motive.
“We do not feel at this point that this was a random act,” Tabor said.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
An online fundraiser has been created to help the family.
