Two 14-year-olds and a 13-year-old have been arrested in LaPlace for allegedly stealing a 2022 BMW X3.
On July 31, St. John deputies responded to the 1400 block of W. Airline Highway in LaPlace shortly before 7:30 p.m. in regard to a stolen car.
The owner of the car told deputies that he parked the SUV and left the key in the cupholder of the car.
According to deputies, they were able to locate the car in Reserve due to the GPS tracker in the car.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on Central Ave. in Reserve, but the driver identified as a 14-year-old girl refused to stop.
The driver entered a parking lot in the 100 block of Central Ave. in an attempt to evade police and nearly hit an occupied golf car in the parking lot.
The driver continued east on River Road, traveling at speeds over 70 mph.
Deputies said the driver eventually turned on Duhe Drive in Reserve and slowed down as all three suspects got out of the car to run in separate directions.
The car remained in drive and rolled forward, hitting an unmarked Sheriff’s Office, which resulted in minor damage to both cars.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested following a foot chase and the other two suspects, a 14-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, were found hiding under a mobile home.
They are all being charged with resisting an officer by flight, aggravated flight from an officer by vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle.
