The Holy Cross Tigers (3-0) take down the Chalmette Owls (1-2) 23-6 Friday night in Tad Gormley Stadium.
The Tigers were led by running back Ke’Rynn Smith.
Smith got the scoring started for Holy Cross in the first quarter.
After the Holy Cross defense stopped Chalmette on fourth down, Smith ran it in for a 7-yard touchdown.
Holy Cross kicker Noel Mora Jr. tacked on a 37-yard field goal just before halftime to make it a 10-0 game.
The Owls finally get on the board at the end of the third quarter.
Quarterback Breez Wilson found receiver Timothy Taylor for a 12-yard touchdown.
The Owls missed the extra point but cut the deficit to 10-6.
Holy Cross responded to that score after Chalmette muffed a punt.
Smith found found the end zone on a 6-yard run to make it 17-6.
Late in the fourth quarter, Wilson threw an interception.
The Tigers put the Owls away as Smith broke off a 91-yard touchdown.
The Tigers are 21-4 against the Owls since 2000.
Holy Cross will host Edna Karr next Saturday, while Chalmette will hit the road to face Booker T. Washington Friday.
