Two people died Friday in a plane crash in Terrebonne Parish.
According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Parish Water Patrol agents were dispatched before noon to a report of a downed aircraft.
Agents began a search using coordinates dispatchers supplied.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Dularge Fire Department aided Water Patrol agents, according to the sheriff.
The sheriff said wreckage from a single-engine fixed wing aircraft was found near Lake Hatch.
Patrol boats and airboats were used to reach the wreckage. The Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Detective Bureau also responded.
The bodies of two people were recovered and released to the Terrebonne Parish Coroner, according to the sheriff.
No other people were on board.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting investigations, according to the sheriff’s office.
