711 new COVID-19 cases, 22 additional deaths in Mississippi

Mississippi health officials reported 711 new COVID-19 cases and an additional 22 deaths on Wednesday.

The Mississippi State Department of Health said six of the deaths occurred between Aug. 23 and Sept. 9 and were identified from death certificate reports.

Mississippi now has 91,234 total cases and 2,756 deaths since the first case was reported in the state March 11.

Gov. Tate Reeves has extended his statewide mask mandate through the end of the month, while loosening restrictions on restaurants and some other businesses.
