Mandatory evacuation order lifted for Eastbank of Plaquemines Parish

A mandatory evacuation order for the Eastbank of Plaquemines Parish has been lifted.

Parish leaders made the announcement Wednesday morning.

The evacuations were due to potential impacts from Hurricane Sally.

Sally made landfall near Gulf Shores, Alabama at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday as a category 2 hurricane.

Maximum sustained winds were 105 mph at landfall with a minimum central pressure of 965 mb.

There have been 20 named storms so far in the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.

The season ends November 30.
