State police are investigating after a Tangipahoa Parish deputy was involved in a shooting early Friday morning.
According to state police, just before 6 a.m. deputies responded to a 911 call about a burglary in progress on Coleman Road in the Robert area.
During the incident, the burglary suspect and homeowner received gunshot wounds, according to a report by state police.
State police say the sequence of events and shooting are still being investigated.
The burglary suspect died on the scene and the homeowner was taken to an area hospital and was listed as stable.
The responding deputy was not injured, according to state police.
The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is processing the incident scene.
